Applications for the 2021 WA Training Awards program have now closed. Please view the 2021 key dates for the next stage of the program.

WA Training Awards are presented to outstanding organisations for their contribution to vocational education and training (VET) in Western Australia.

The Western Australian Training Awards recognise excellence in VET and the outstanding achievements of our VET students, apprentices and trainees, practitioners and training providers, organisations and employers. The Awards have eight individual categories, and four organisation categories.

Organisation award categories

Please read the following information for details about each of the organisation award categories. 

  • WA Large Employer of the Year

    The WA Large Employer of the Year Award recognises a large enterprise which has achieved excellence in the provision of nationally recognised training* to its employees.

    Eligibility

    To apply for this award, an organisation must have 200 or more* full time equivalent employees.

    Joint applications will also be accepted from:

    • a group training organisation that partners with a host employer; or
    • a host employer that partners with a group training organisation.

    Applications will not be accepted from organisations whose core business is the delivery of vocational education and training — these organisations may consider nominating for either the Large or Small Training Provider of the Year Award.

    *Nationally recognised training refers to training that is based on a national training package or accredited course which results in a person receiving a formal qualification or Statement of Attainment issued by a registered training organisation. This includes apprenticeships.

     

  • WA Medium Employer of the Year

    The WA Medium Employer of the Year Award recognises a medium enterprise which has achieved excellence in the provision of nationally recognised training* to its employees.

    Eligibility

    To apply for this award, an organisation must have 20 or more, but fewer than 200, full time equivalent employees.

    Joint applications will also be accepted from:

    • a group training organisation that partners with a host employer; or
    • a host employer that partners with a group training organisation.

    Applications will not be accepted from organisations whose core business is the delivery of vocational education and training — these organisations may consider nominating for either the Large or Small Training Provider of the Year Award.

    *Nationally recognised training refers to training that is based on a national training package or accredited course which results in a person receiving a formal qualification or Statement of Attainment issued by a registered training organisation. This includes apprenticeships.

  • WA Small Training Provider of the Year

    The WA Small Training Provider of the Year Award recognises a registered training organisation that offers a specific range of training products and services and demonstrates excellence and high level performance in all aspects of vocational education and training.

    Eligibility

    To apply for this award, an organisation must:

    • be a registered training organisation for which the delivery of vocational education and training is the core business;
    • deliver the majority of training in Western Australia; and
    • be delivering less than 50 qualifications, which are listed on its scope of registration in WA.
  • WA Large Training Provider of the Year

    The WA Large Training Provider of the Year Award recognises a registered training organisation that offers a broad range of training products and services and demonstrates excellence and high level performance in all aspects of vocational education and training.

    Eligibility

    To apply for this award, an organisation must:

    • be a registered training organisation for which the delivery of vocational education and training is the core business;
    • deliver the majority of training in Western Australia; and
    • be delivering 50 or more qualifications, which are listed on its scope of registration in WA.
